Give a Voice to Your Dreams to Give Them Wings

She paused for a moment to look around the room at all of her friends and family surrounding her. She knelt up a little higher in the chair filled with excitement of being another year older, soon she would be old enough to sit in the chair properly. As she leant forward ready to blow out the candles before her, she heard the familiar phrase “make a wish, but shhhh don’t tell anyone or it won’t come true”.
She sat at the breakfast table, finally filling the chair and looked over at her sister as they shared a laugh. They reached out towards each other and wrapped a pinky around each side of the dried wishbone left from dinner the night before and just as they were about to pull they heard the familiar phrase “make a wish, but shhhh don’t tell anyone or it won’t come true”.
As she flopped back in her bed her thoughts were all of her family and how much she missed them since leaving home.  She glanced out her darkened window and a smile flashed across her face as she caught sight of the first twinkling star in the sky. “Star light, star bright….” she started to recite and in the back of her mind she heard the familiar phrase “make a wish, but shhhh don’t tell anyone or it won’t come true”.
She sat, slumped in front of her laptop trying to work on her business, stressing over what her next move was. Her wishes had turned to dreams that she was attempting to put into plans. But those words still hovered in the back of her mind “shhhh, don’t tell anyone or it won’t come true”.
So she kept her dreams to herself and struggled, alone, with the self doubt, the self sabotage, the limiting beliefs and all the other stories she had taken on. Her dreams getting further and further out of reach.
But one day something magical happened. One day she decided to let go of that story, to let go of the need to keep her wishes and dreams a secret. She gave voice to her dreams and they started to come true.

Here is how you can give a voice to your dreams and you give them wings.

1. Use Your Voice to Manifest It

Where you focus goes, energy flows so the more you focus and think about your dreams with your inner voice, the more energy is put behind them.  It is like you putting your order in with the universe.

The more you visualise your dream the easier it is to believe that you will make it happen.   The belief is a very important step in actually achieving it.

Take a moment to close your eyes and visualise the outcome of achieving your dream.  What does it feel like, how are you celebrating, who are you sharing your success with, picture it in vivid detail so your mind believes it has already happened.     Then working backwards from that, visualise the steps you needed to take in order to get there.  This can help you start to formulate a plan as to how you will achieve it.   But even if you don’t know the steps you need to take, keep picturing that end result, keep visualising that dream and you will be so much closer to it.

2. Use Your Voice to Share it

It can be scary to share a dream, what if someone doesn’t like it, what if someone finds flaws in it, what it people tell me I can’t have it, what if someone steals my ideas, what if…., what if…..  I get it, but you have to remind yourself that this is YOUR dream, and the only thing that matters is what you think of yourself.

To think about or picture a dream in our own mind can sometimes just be a matter of pictures, and feelings, single words and snippets but in order to share that out loud you have to form a coherent sentence.  So by sharing your dreams you find more clarity than you had when it was just a picture in your mind.

“Everything becomes a little different when you speak it out loud “- – Hermann Hesse – –

So share your dream and keep sharing it and watch as it takes shape and starts to fit in to places you might not have imagined before.

3. Use Your Voice to Find Help

No one is going to walk up to you and say “Hey, love that secret idea swirling around in your head and I would love to work with you on it”.  Because they can’t read your mind and have no idea what you are dreaming about and working on.     You also don’t always know every detail of all the people in your circle and may be surprised by the knowledge or talents of someone close to you who can help you if they just knew about your idea.   You can find the help to bring your dream closer to reality just by sharing it.

But you also need to use your voice to ASK for help.  You were never meant to walk this journey alone and often other people take great comfort in being able to help you, so let them help you by sharing with them where you need that help.    Bringing people in to help you doesn’t mean you have to let go of control of your dream, just make sure you have boundaries set and everything will fall into place.

4. Use Your Voice to Celebrate the Action

Dreaming about it, visualising it, talking about it and asking for help with it will only get you so far.  You also have to take inspired action.  Celebrating and sharing all of the actions you take along the way can help reinforce everything that you are working towards.  It keeps you focused on how far you have come rather than just dwelling on how far you still have left to go.  By sharing the celebrations you may also inspire others too.

The excitement and energy from celebrating your wins will also put you in good stead to go on to achieve more and more.  It will also help keep you accountable to those cheering you on, so surround yourself with these people so you don’t just have to rely on your self-accountability, your cheer squad can be there for you too.

Your  voice is a very powerful tool, use it to bring your dreams to life.  For more ways to your voice can make a difference to your business, check out this blog.
